In this research paper, I examine the War on Drugs’ impact on illegal drug abuse in the United States. Drawing on statistical data, academic studies, and real-world cases, the paper argues that aggressive supply-side enforcement has proven largely ineffective in reducing overdose deaths and drug use. I conclude by exploring alternative demand-focused interventions and decriminalization strategies that prioritize public health and more efficient resource allocation
