“Gamify” A Mental Wellness Platform
Students will collaborate with Refresh to design and prototype a gamified module or interface that motivates user engagement, and positively reinforces regular activity on the platform. The design of the “gamification” process is open for interpretation to encourage students to use their creative freedom. We are looking for innovative concepts beyond what’s currently in the marketplace. The student team will research, brainstorm, and present concepts for approval from Refresh leadership. After feedback and approval, they will then develop a functional prototype. Following prototype completion, students will deliver a detailed project report, outlining details and specifications for the module or interface. Students will have access to the Refresh Figma account in order to design and prototype the interface or module
Mental Wellness Platform Data Exploration & Visualization
Students will review the platform and upcoming modules to determine which data sets can be made into meaningful insights for both individual and administrative accounts. Insights should aim to increase the value of the data that administrators receive about their teams in an overarching goal to improve their teams’ mental wellness.
Icon and Image Design for Mental Wellness Platform
The main goal for the project is to design icons and imagery that are consistent across the Refresh Wellness Platform (RWP), a mobile application aimed at improving mental wellness for organizations and team. The goal of this project is ensuring a cohesive and visually appealing user experience for individuals and organizations using the app. This will involve several different steps for the student, including: Understanding the mission and goals of Refresh Inc. and the Refresh Wellness App. Reviewing and analyzing the existing design elements of the app. Reviewing the existing brand guide and style guide. Creating a set of cohesive icons and imagery that align with the app's existing design guides. Collaborating with the design, development, and software engineering teams at Refresh Inc. to ensure the icons and imagery integrate seamlessly into the app's interface.
Market Expansion and Collaboration Research
As a mental wellness company, we are currently well-known in one market (Saskatchewan, Canada), but we believe we are ready to take our business to the next level and expand our network of connections. With your help, we hope to assess our collaborative landscape beyond the demographics we currently cater to by learning about their expectations, behaviours, and community goals. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Researching the market in potential new locations including demographic data such as proximity, accessibility, and location appeal, and creating a weighted decision matrix to assign importance to each factor. Create an organized spreadsheet based on demographic information and potential for networking opportunities. Analyze data collected using the spreadsheet created to identify the top 5-10 organization(s) to reach out to. Invite the organizations to be involved with Refresh's mental wellness platform.
Mental Health App Language Review
The Refresh Wellness platform will be launching as a mobile app at the end of December, 2022. Before we can release the app we need to complete a full review of the language and copy to ensure it's accessible for our target users. This project will be completed separately by two different students in order for the Project Manager to see different perspectives of the app. The resulting projects will be reviewed by the Project Manager and UI/UX team to make the best decisions for the mobile application. The goal of this project is to complete a review of the language/copy in the Refresh Wellness app to offer changes and suggestions before we launch the app publicly. Project tasks will be: Reviewing all language and copy used on all screens of the Refresh Wellness app Suggesting emotion synonyms for the journal screens Editing language/copy to reflect an 6th-8th grade reading level

Community Resources Research
Having a mental wellness app requires having some kind of resource for users in crisis. Instead of simply providing a 911 phone number, a list of local resources for different needs will be able to better support individuals having a mental wellness crisis or emergency, or who simply don’t know where to turn. The goal of this project is to provide our app users with a list of local community resources to call or reach out to based on their geolocation in the case of a mental wellness emergency. The research will include: Scoping out community resources in North America (all provinces, territories, and states) Compiling community contacts/resources Validating/vetting contacts and their services
